Round Table on the outcomes of Dushanbe Water Conference

On June 25 the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in London organized a round table on the outcomes of High-Level International Conference on the implementation of the International Decade for Action “Water for Life”, 2005-2015.
The Ambassador of Tajikistan in the UK gave an overview on the main results of the Conference, outlined provisions of Dushanbe Declaration adopted in the Conference and spoke about the initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan on new Decade for Actions “Water for Sustainable Development”.
Second Secretary of the Embassy reviewed in his presentation global water initiatives of Tajikistan implemented during last decades. Along with actions of Tajikistan on international level, special focus has been given to the role of the country in regional water cooperation.
Mr.Richard Taylor, Chief Executive of International Hydropower Association then talked on climate change and sustainable development. Mr.Taylor provided detailed analysis of impact of climate change on preservation of the water resources and energy generation by hydro power stations.
At the end participants discussed the related topics of the meeting and highly evaluated the outcomes of the Conference and the role of Tajikistan in promoting international water agenda.
The event was attended by the representatives of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, embassies accredited in London, experts and media.
