The Embassy of Tajikistan in the UK organized a seminar for British business community
On June 9 the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in London in collaboration with "British Expertise International" - the leading UK private sector organisation for British companies, held a seminar for the UK business community.
The main purpose of the event was introduction of a new Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) between Tajikistan and the UK, presentation of the investment opportunities in Tajikistan, implementation of DFID projects and programs in the country and review of the EuropeAid project, Development of the Fruit & Vegetable Processing Industry in Tajikistan & Kyrgyzstan.
The Ambassador of Tajikistan in the United Kingdom (UK) H.E. Mr. Erkin Kasymov welcomed participants and gave an overview on bilateral trade and economic relations between two countries. He also talked on the new opportunities for the companies arising in connection with Tajikistan-UK DTA.
Second Secretary of Tajikistan Embassy, Mr.Asliddin Rakhmatov presented in details wider benefits and advantages for the UK companies following from the DTA provisions.
Head of “Astelios Ltd.” Mr.Muboriz Muborakshoev then talked on investment opportunities in Tajikistan based on good practices of some international companies working at Tajikistan market.
Ms.Emily Grey, Policy Officer for Central Asia of the UK Department for International Development talked about the DFID programme, which focuses on encouraging good governance and
creating a favourable investment climate in Tajikistan.
Finally Nigel Peters, Director of “British Expertise International” summarised the EuropeAid project, Development of the Fruit & Vegetable Processing Industry in Tajikistan & Kyrgyzstan.
The event was attended by the representatives of the UK Government, more than 30 companies, public organizations and media.
