Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in London presented a collection of national artefacts to the British Museum

On June 8 the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in London presented to the British Museum a collection of ethnographic artefacts from Tajikistan.

The representatives of Tajikistan Embassy met with the Director of the British Museum Mr. Neil MacGregor who extended his gratitude for this valuable contribution.

The project has been implemented following the initiative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojidin Aslov made during his visit to the British Museum in July 2014.

The collection was gathered with the help of contribution of the Ambassador of Tajikistan in Great Britain H.E. Mr.Erkin Kasymov. Considerable contribution has also been made by the Trade Representative of Tajikistan in the UK Mr.Sakhibov Shamsullo.

The collection includes traditional textiles, musical instruments, ancient everyday household utensils, kundal panels, jewellery and miniatures of famous Tajik masters. Some of the items dated back to the 18-19 centuries.
