The event took place at the DLT Lecture Theatre of the main building of SOAS, University of London and was attended by community of scholars, students, public organizations and academic institutions.
Dr.Dagi Dagiev, Vice-Chairman of British-Tajik Society “Payvand”, research associate at the Institute of Ismaili Studies, who was a moderator of the event, introduced the speakers and briefed the audience on the main historical milestones of the period of independence of Tajikistan.
Mr.Asliddin Rakhmatov, Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of Tajikistan to the UK, in his statement talked on achievements of Tajikistan during the period of independence and prospects for future development.
Dr.Jalal Badakhshani, Chairman of British-Tajik Society “Payvand” spoke on development of contemporary Tajikistan and role of International Forum “Payvand” of Persian speaking people in maintaining of positive image of the country abroad.
Dr.Alireza Nourizadeh, Director of Centre for Arab and Iranian Studies, informed the audience on the role of the President of Tajikistan H.E. Emomali Rahmon, Leader of nation and founder of peace and unity, in strengthening national reconciliation, preserving the stability of society and ensuring economic development in Tajikistan.
Dr.Catherine Hughes delivered presentation on Contemporary architecture in post-independent Tajikistan focusing on traditions and legacy of Samanid Dynasty.
At the end of the event participants actively made their comments and questions.
